Concetta Napolitano JANET CUNNIFFE-CHIEFFO Renown for creating luminous oil paintings on copper, Janet Cunniffe-Chieffo has fine-tuned her technique over the last two decades painting jewel like quality works of art that stand the test of time. A tech- nique she learned while earning her Mas- ters of Fine Art at the New York Academy of Art in 1999, painting on copper she states, “makes each painting glow with light.” Her subjects on copper range from fruits to flowers incorporating the glow of copper in each piece. Her award winning paintings have been published in “Copper in the Arts,” an online magazine that fea- tured an article and YouTube video captur- ing a window into her studio process. She has been written up in numerous newspa- per articles and featured in the Artist’s Magazine. Exhibited in three solo exhibi- tions at Swain Galleries in Plainfield and many prestigious group shows across the country, Janet Cunniffe-Chieffo’s work was most recently showcased at the solo exhi- bition “Embracing the Moment” at Studio 7 Fine Art Gallery in Bernardsville. Her work resides in many private collections across the country and abroad. Janet Cunniffe-Chieffo is an instructor of oil painting at the Ridgewood Art Institute, where her work on copper is part of their prestigious permanent collection. There, under a north lit skylight, she teaches a popular floral and still life oil painting class. Passionate about nature and working directly from life, she has been featured as both “Artist of the Month” in 2013 and “Teacher of the Month” this past Febru- ary. She has conducted live demonstra- tions and workshops at many art associa- tions in NJ. Her next outdoor workshop is scheduled for April 11th at the Frelinghuy- sen Arboretum in Morristown during the height of the spring cherry blossoms. An accomplished portrait painter, Cunniffe- Chieffo was awarded in 2015 the public portrait commission to paint the former County Executive of Rockland County, NY. Her portrait will be part of the permanent collection at the Rockland County Court- house.
