I endeavor to capture it all through my paint and brush.” A New Jersey boy, artist David John Rush’s journey as a painter has taken him to countries such as Germany, France and other parts of Europe, yet he finds New Jersey as rich in subject mat- ter as other more famous destinations. His delightful paintings in both oil and watercolor capture the color and char- acter of New Jersey. Often, Mr. Rush is inspired by what perchance he comes across…perhaps it’s the way the field looks down the road at dawn or maybe it’s the herd of white-faced Hereford staring him down at the local farm. It could be a young girl in the kitchen preparing for the next meal. Possibly, just beyond that bend, there’s an historical house in the night shad- ows or a breath-taking view of a quiet stream at daybreak. It’s all here in New Jersey…right around the corner. A new book by Tova Navarra, “New Jersey Artists through Time,” cele- brates the legacy of New Jersey’s artists and craftsman through its 350 years. David John Rush, one of New Jerseys local and finest artists, was selected to be among them and recently was invit- ed to be a part of a larger hard cover book of over 300 pages with addition- al information and pictures. Continuously working and exhibiting his paintings, Mr. Rush is indeed leaving a legacy of beautiful art for all to enjoy now and for years to come in a published book for all time.
