It is a time where you can enjoy the last few great weeks of summer and also partake in the first harvest celebrations. It is also a time of year when I experi- ence a sense of new beginnings. Whether it’s sending the kids off to school to begin a new school year, the kick-off of a new NFL season, or harvesting the grapes for a new vintage, there is a sense of excite- ment and joy in the air. This September, I will be experiencing personal joy, when I walk my daughter down the aisle! As with many new beginnings, there is an immediate feeling of elation. It might be from excite- ment, it might be from nervous- ness. Wine lovers often face this same sense of anticipation…as well as uncertainty. Reading an unfamil- iar wine label or looking up a wine on a smartphone while shopping might provide some insights, but it does not assure you will enjoy the wine. At Gary’s Wine & Marketplace, we strive to help our guests to shop with confidence. Not only can our team of wine associates provide guidance, but guests always have the opportunity to participate in our daily wine tast- ings. Every day you can try up to 4 different wines, and discover your next favorite wine. We’re sure you’ll find something new to love that you can take home and share with your friends. I encourage you to take advantage of our many tasting opportunities. As my moth- er would always tell me, you’ll never know whether you’ll like it until you try it. If you are interested in learning more about wine, September is a great time to visit a winery to learn about the winemaking process. Learning directly from the wineries and winemakers is a great way of getting first-hand knowledge about a winery and their wines. Great wine stores offer opportuni- ties throughout the year to meet and speak with winemakers. Take advantage of them. Whether it is an in-store tasting with winemak- ers, a wine dinner, or a charity tast- ing event, there is nothing better than talking with winemakers to hear about the passion and com- mitment they put into making their wines. This September, you can also expect to see new vintages arriving in stores. From what I have tasted, there are many great new vintages coming to stores this fall. The 2013 vintage was an ideal harvest for many wine regions in California. Expect to see many more great domestic red wines from Napa, Sonoma, Santa Barbara, and Anderson Valley. We will be expanding our offerings from the fantastic 2010 vintages from Bordeaux and Tuscany. For white wine lovers, you will love the 2014 vintage we have coming in from Burgundy, Alsace and California. If you have any questions about these wines or others, you can always speak with one of our many knowledgeable wine team members. Lastly, I hope you will join us for the celebration of another new begin- ning at Gary’s Wine & Marketplace. On Saturday, September 12, we are hosting the Grand Opening and ribbon cutting of Gary’s Wine & Marketplace in Hillsborough. There will be giveaways, a champagne tasting, and cake for the communi- ty. Plus, as always, we will be pour- ing some special wine throughout the day for our guests to taste. I hope you are as excited for September as I am. Cheers! EXCITED FOR SEPTEMBER! By: Gary Fisch Gary’s Wine & Marketplace
