Bridgewater-Somerville Edition
Welcome to the February 2016 edition of The Bridgewater- Somerville Connection. We ring in the new year with an outstanding issue filled with new and returning advertisers, great editorial content and dedicated sections making the magazine more focused and easier to read. This issue we are proud to present the following dedicated sections: Kid’z CONNECTion Section for those families looking to get a jump on camps and activities for the summer and spring activities as well, Home Sweet Home Section for ALL needs around the house, Dining Out Section featur- ing local eateries and food options, Health & Wellness Section brimming with wonderful solutions, tips and hints for everything health related, Spotlight on Seniors Sec- tion focused on our “senior” community, Rediscover Bound Brook and Shop Somerville Sections highlight local businesses in those towns and the Community Cal- endar which gives our readers club meetings, library pro- grams and more! I am proud to introduce two NEW columns in this magazine; A Caring Community, which is a column about “ Local Heroes” in our community. Lau- ren Greenberg, featured columnist, will be interviewing people who are making a difference in our neighborhoods. This issue she highlights “Puppies With a Purpose“ fea- turing local residents who work with the non-profit North- star Foundation who train dogs to help children with social, emotional or educational challenges. It is a wonder- ful story and I encourage you to read it. The second col- umn, very close to my heart, is written by one of my dear college friends about part of her journey with breast can- cer. The Health For The Heart column, features “ My Vinnie Story“ by Tina Erardi, which is beautifully written by one of the most beautiful people I know. Please don’t miss this heartwarming tale. Also highlighted from our business/professional com- munity are: The Kiddie Academy of Bridgewater, Robert Incao/Lisa Berchoff-Weichert Realtors, Bench’s CARPET ONE Floor & Home, S & G Cleaning Services, The Bar Method-Warren and Able Consult- ing & Training. Our talented writers have given us unique insight into these businesses and their respective owners. Local artist Beth Parcell Evans, adorns our front cover with an oil entitled, “Sunny Spot.” Beth’s passion for horses and painting has been with her from an early age. She comments on this piece particularly, “Sunny Spot is an oil painting on canvas. I was inspired to paint it when I would walk past this scene daily where I boarded my horse. I took my dog for a hike before I rode each morning and thought I must paint this scene. The run-in shed is sit- uated to block the northwest wind and faces south, mak- ing it a shelter for the horses on a cold snowy morning. They are quite content and warm hanging out in and around it, and there is a warm glow of the morning sun on them. I liked the contrast of warm and cool colors.” Please read Beth’s impressive bio on page 8. Look for our FUN contest in this issue: SPOT THE FAKE! Somewhere in this issue is a fake ad.
