I am not one to shy away from a debate, but in my mind, there is no debate about this position in which many baby boomers find themselves. If my own aging has taught me anything of value, it is that everyone does what is right for them, and I defend the right of all of us to make our best decisions for our families. What feels so impor- tant for me to share, however, is that in my opinion, if truly stud- ied and analyzed, the develop- ment of senior living has so much merit, and offers positive opportunity for a longer and healthier life for those we love! Making the decision to move my beloved mother-in-law, Eleanor, to assisted living was quite honestly, made for us. Her physician spelled it out…she can no longer live alone, (she was adverse to having an aide live with her) and she could no longer drive. My husband, Bruce, sister-in-law, Mindy, and I had already sourced Chelsea at War- ren, so with some effort on everyone’s part, she was moved and settled into her new home two years ago. My business partner, Carol, and I work with seniors at all points along their transition to this next phase of their lives. We appreciate the changes for all involved. We know it is a diffi- cult time for families, as well as the senior, even if everyone is in agreement that correct decision has been made. Our goal is to create a beautiful environment and smooth adjustment, un- packing, organizing and deco- rating a new home that ensures positive self esteem at a most important time in their lives. A new life awaits seniors, and with a little loving handholding and attention to the details involved, that new life offers the opportunity for a thriving and enjoyable time of life for the senior and her/his family!
