New Jersey artist, Neal Hughes, adorns our cover with an oil on linen entitled “House By The Water.” His love of marine life has influ- enced his collection of paintings and for this particular piece he states, “This painting is one of a series of Maine paintings and I was trying to capture the early morning light on a calm day. I do a lot of coastal paintings and I was happy to paint both the architecture of the house and the boats with water in the back- ground. There is a unique quality to the coast of Maine that offers endless possibilities for sub- ject matter that I find interesting and challeng- ing.
