REDUCE YOUR DOUBLE CHIN WITH KYBELLA By: Dr. Patricia Barsanti When you look in the mirror or photos, does the extra fullness under your chin bother you? Double chin is also known as submental fullness, and this condition affects both men and women and can be caused by weight gain, aging, or genetics, some of which we have no con- trol over. If you are looking for a non-sur- gical treatment option, now there’s Kybella – the first and only FDA approved prescription injectable medicine used to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin. Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule already in your body. Once injected under the chin, it works by permanently destroying fat cells so they can no longer store or accumulate fat, resulting in an improved chin profile! The typical injection treatment takes only 15-20 minutes, and many patients experience visible results after just 2-4 treatments. After reaching your goals, further treatments are not expected. The most com- mon side effects include bruis- ing, discomfort, numbness, red- ness, areas of hardness in the treatment area, and swelling.
