Mohs sur- gery is a technique where tissue is removed in microscopic sections until cleared of cancer. This method allows the doctor to precisely map the area of affect- ed skin and confirm its removal before suturing or reconstructive surgery begins. In fact, 99% of primary cancers and 95- 96% of recurrent cancers are cured using this technique. And scarring is so minimal that in most cases, Dr. Ciatti’s patients don’t need to see a plastic surgeon.
