It all began with Lois Allen above the Stanley Theatre in Newark, NJ in 1955. Miss Lois has had a few different locations, but Clark was the one that became home base and still runs daily. Her daughter, Loralyn studied dance & theatre in NYC at Broadway Dance Center, Debbie Reynolds in CA & had the opportunity to study theatre & dance at The Pineapple in England. She graduated from Oklahoma City University with a BPA & performed with Norwegian Cruise Lines. She later took over, and has been successfully running it since 1991. She then opened the Bridgewater location in 2010 & is very proud that we are fam- ily owned & operated. Her husband, Dan is very involved & her daughters both assist & teach classes. Their daughter, Carissa graduated from “Broadway Dance Centers” presti- gious Professional semester. Then she landed a job with Norwegian Cruise Lines first as a dancer/singer and then as the lead singer sailing around the world. Most of all her teachers grew up in the studio since, they were little. Then they graduated from colleges with a BA, BFA & BPA in dance & the arts. They all are members & gradu- ates of DEA and some are members of ADT of NJ. They all attend regular workshops to keep up with the current styles of dance. They are all creative & high energy teachers who love what they do. Our Musical Theatre depart- ment is run by Samantha Gelnaw who has graduated from Manhattenville College with a degree in writing & The- atre. She also is a member of Screen Actors Guild union. She teaches voice, musical theatre, acting & directs the musical each fall. This year “James and the Giant Peach” is going to be pro- duced. She also teaches summer camps with a theme! We offer ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, & hiphop. We teach ages three thru adults! Our adult classes are upbeat, fun & very popular. We also have a competition team directed by Lauren Newby who holds a BA in dance and graduated with high honors from DeSales University. She also performed with “The Undertoe Dance Project” & is a member of the National dance Organization. We also have a dance company that is called “The Allenettes” and they perform at hospitals, The Veterans Home, nursing homes & different sporting events. This year we are celebrating 25 years of Allenettes. Miss Loralyn runs the Clark team & Kristen Woska runs the Bridge- water team. She graduated from Kean with a degree in business management & also studied at Broadway Dance Center. Our other teachers include Jen Kober who graduated from Middlesex County College with an associates degree in psychology & is a current Sonographer. Rebecca English is a graduate from Montclair State College with a BFA in dance. All of our teach- ers bring such a dynamic style to all of their classes. We all take pride in every- thing we teach.
