Spring Academy ( www.Lsmus.com) opened its first school in North Brunswick in 2011. With the September 2011 enrollment of 43 students to start the year, Spring Academy has become the go-to Montessori Preschool in the North Brunswick vicinity. In 2013, Spring Academy opened its second campus in Garwood, NJ, with the unique offering of half day Montessori + half day Chi- nese (Mandarin) Immersion program. The program is unique, being that it combines the Montessori philosophy with a half day Chinese Immersion pro- gram, giving students a great edge toward academic success AND the ability of becoming a global citizen. The Gar- wood campus later on spins off into two campuses, one in Scotch Plains and one in Garwood. In September of 2016, Spring Acad- emy acquired the previous Pee Wee Uni- versity in Warren, and started its renova- tion efforts, both inside the classrooms and outside in the playground with updated playground equipments. Spring Academy Warren will continue to offer the educational programs based on its firm belief of Montessori philosophy, and will offer optional Chinese (Mandarin) Immersion program based on demand. Montessori education is an education approach that is based on ‘Whole Child Education’ philosophy. It bases early childhood education on the belief that ‘children are born to be curious learners, and they best learn via hands-on activi- ties that stimulate their five senses during the light-bulb moments.’ Spring Acade- my is an authentic Montessori school, because its classrooms are equipped with Montessori materials and the classes are mixed-aged believing that ‘young learns from the old, and old leads the young.’ Spring Academy, however, also builds in paperwork which reinforces children’s daily learning by creating corresponding Montessori worksheets, thus what they learned are reflected into paper, which in turn, ensures that parents are updated with what their children have learned, keeps the communications fluid and transparent, and makes the learning more effective. Chinese (Mandarin) Immersion is another program that Spring Academy offers. Spring Academy engages stu- dents in environmentally-aware initia- tives, teaches lessons from a multi-cultur- al perspective, adapts ‘a whole child edu- cation’ Montessori philosophy by using Chinese language to teach all subject areas including language, math, culture, character building, independence, and science, and believes in a global philoso- phy with practical returns. Past students consistently demonstrate high levels of academic achievement as well as confi- dence, compassion, multicultural under- standing, and independence.
